Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,

"Richness, can you take me with you?"

Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"

"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."

"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"

"It was Time," Knowledge answered.

"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

愛與時(shí)間

從前，一個(gè)小島上駐扎著林林總總各種感情，有幸福、悲傷、知識(shí)等等，還有愛。有一天，感情們接到通知說，小島馬上就要下沉，于是紛紛造船逃離。惟有愛無動(dòng)于衷。

愛是唯一準(zhǔn)備留下來的。

小島快要沉沒時(shí)，愛禁不住求救起來。

富有駕駛一艘豪輪經(jīng)過，愛肯請道：

“富有，帶上我吧。”

“不成，不成，”富有說，“我船上載滿了金銀財(cái)寶，哪容得下你。”

虛榮乘著漂亮的小船經(jīng)過，愛前往求助，“虛榮，幫幫我吧！”

“我沒法幫你呀，愛，你看你，全身透濕，會(huì)把我的船弄壞的?！碧摌s說。

悲傷打愛身邊經(jīng)過，愛趕緊叫住他，“我跟你一快走吧?！?“哎呀，愛，真對(duì)不起，我好悲傷，我想一個(gè)人待著！”

幸福從愛身邊經(jīng)過，正沉浸于自己的快樂呢，根本沒聽見愛的呼喚。

突然，一個(gè)聲音響起來，“來吧，愛，我?guī)阋黄鹱?。”原來是一個(gè)長者。愛高興極了，竟然忘了問她他們這是去哪。到達(dá)一片干燥的陸地后，長者自顧走了。愛意識(shí)到自己實(shí)在需要對(duì)她感恩戴德，于是去問另一位長者知識(shí)，“是誰幫了我？”

“是時(shí)間?！敝R(shí)回答說。

“時(shí)間？可時(shí)間為什么要幫我呢？”

知識(shí)意味深長地笑著說，“因?yàn)橹挥袝r(shí)間能理解愛的價(jià)值。”
